Good Sense

Psychology that makes sense

Your child and young person's mental health matters. I provide specialised support to empower children, adolscents, and families through evidence-based psychological interventions.

Supporting Children, Adolescents & Families

Life can be complex for tamariki/children and rangatahi/young people. I provide tailored psychological support to help them overcome challenges, build resilience, and thrive.

Psychological interventions for Children and Adolescents

Life can be very tough for our children and young people. Anxiety, depression, phobias, trauma, and self-esteem issues can be debilitating. I offer psychological assessment and support for a range of challenges. Together, we work towards building resilience, confidence, and wellbeing so they can thrive.

Cost: $230 incl. GST per 50-minute session.

Neurodevelopmental assessments
(ADHD and ASD)

Sometimes life is more difficult for our tamariki and rangatahi because they do not fit the mould. At these times a neurodevelopmental assessment may be helpful to understand their challenges better. I offer ADHD and ASD assessments.

The cost for these range from $2000 incl. GST (ADHD) to $2500 incl. GST (ASD). The cost for a combined ADHD and ASD assessment is $2700.

Parenting support and strategies

Raising children and young people can be challenging at the best of times, but add in social media, developmental changes, and mental health challenges, and it is a minefield. I can offer parenting support to help parents navigate the minefield while still looking after themselves!

$230 incl. GST per 50-minutes session.

Workshops and seminars

These involve speaking engagements at schools/churches/community centres for staff and/or parents about a range of topics, including anxiety, resilience, and self-harm. I tailor each workshop or seminar to the needs of the audience, ensuring that the content is practical, relevant, and engaging. My goal is to give parents, caregivers, and educators practical strategies to support tamariki and rangatahi.

Price on application.

Linde-Marie

Registered Psychologist

I have a research background where I developed, updated, and evaluated parenting programmes, including the Toolbox Parenting Programmes and the Space for You and Your Baby programme. I am passionate about improving the well-being and mental health of children, young people, and their parents and whānau. I believe the first step in this process involves building connection and relationship with my clients.

I utilise evidence-based therapies including ACT, CBT, and EMDR. I have extensive experience in supporting children and youth in managing anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, neurodivergence, self-harm and suicidal ideation, and processing traumatic events. Through Dyadic Development Therapy (DDP) I work with children and parents/foster parents/caregivers where complex situations made secure attachment difficult. I'm also passionate about helping parents to support their tamariki and rangatahi and build positive, connected, and enjoyable family and whānau relationships.

I am a member of the New Zealand Psychological Society and the Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Institute.

    Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about my services, therapy approaches, costs, and how I can support your child, rangatahi, and whānau.

I support children and young people aged 6 to 18 with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma, low self-esteem, and challenges related to neurodivergence. I also work with parents and whānua to strengthen relationships and develop practical strategies to support their young people.

Once I’ve received your referral, we will set up an initial appointment time. The first appointment is usually a parent(s)-only appointment so that we can discuss your concerns more freely. However, if your child is an older adolescent, we may decide together that it is best for your young person to attend the first session. At that first session, I will explain the assessment and intervention process as well as how information will be kept confidential. This appointment will also give you the opportunity to see if you think we could work together and if I might be a good “fit” for your child. Once I have gathered the necessary information about your concerns as well as background information, we will book a time for me to meet with your child or young person (if they were not part of the initial appointment). That first session with your child will be crucial for rapport building and will lay the foundation for the therapeutic alliance as we continue to work in collaboration to address the difficulties your child, young person, or family is facing.
Sessions are 50-minutes in length. The frequency of the sessions depends on the nature and significance of the challenge your child or adolescent is facing. However, generally, I would suggest starting off with weekly sessions with the view to work towards fortnightly sessions.
Sessions are $230 incl. GST. There are funding options available through WINZ (Child Disability Allowance) and sessions may also be covered by health insurance. Sessions may also be available through Gumboot Friday.
I use a range of therapies, including CBT, ACT, EMDR, and DDP. We will decide together which type of therapeutic intervention will be most appropriate once I’ve gathered the necessary information from you and your child.
Yes. I support parents to understand their parenting styles and how those may have been influenced by their own experiences of being parented. We also work together to utilise parenting strategies that would work best for their particular children and family situation. I do not provide adult mental health care and will refer parents to clinical psychologists who are better equipped to support parents with depression, anxiety, their own trauma, etc.
